Faster Faster Faster said the little steam engine: 12Gbps Solid State Drives
Seagate and Western Digital are both planning the release of 12Gbps Solid State Drives for Enterprise which will double the current 6Gbps throughput over the SAS interface. The drives will have 2 data paths so if one fails the drive will still function. These should hit the market in 2013 and should be backwards compatible with current architecture. From May 16th the United States Postal Service (USPS) will no longer ship any item with a Lithium Ion battery due to the danger of in flight explosions on cargo planes.
