Staff Biography - Nicolle Collier
In detail, what is your role at Think IT?
I am the Service Delivery Coordinator at Think IT. My role is to coordinate the technicians calendars and ensure they are prioritizing the more urgent tickets and following up clients requests. I also liaise with the clients and book appointments for the technicians to go onsite to perform tasks. I also ensure that the onsite technicians have the required items to enable them to perform their duties onsite.
What is it that drives and encourages you within your work and personal life?
I am a people person. I have previously been in sales so I love interacting with people. Also a parent, you have to be able to maintain a number of tasks simultaneously, you learn to be diplomatic and problem solve daily. I find that these skills help me in my professional life also, enabling me to help prioritise more urgent issues and resolve clients issues as timely and efficiently as possible. I like the satisfaction of having done a good job, whether that be in my professional or personal life. I might not be changing the world but I am making someones life slightly easier on a daily basis.
Who, or what, was the biggest influence in your career today?
Having previously worked in a sales position as a Key Account Manager I believe that being organised, prepared and thinking ahead to the next task is the key to success.
Whose biggest fan, are you?
This is a hard one as it is like asking someone what their favourite song is. Music is a huge influence in my life. I listen to music at home, in the car and at work. There are many musicians that are role models in my life but one of the stand out people is David Bowie. I find that even though he was a huge idol to millions of people he was a very down to earth person. He was kind and generous and self effacing when not on stage. He truly cared about others and went out of his way to help those he could, usually as anonymously as possible. He mentored a number of artists and was always generous in his praise to others. He also had a wicked sense of humour.
What accomplishment are you most proud of within your job role at Think IT?
There is nothing that stands out as a big win, but its the everyday small things that matter to me. I love it when I can juggle things around to make something work for a client, getting a tech to site even though it seemed almost impossible. Going above and beyond for a client and really putting the effort in to ensure the client is looked after beyond expectations. While clients do not usually know the effort that has been put in behind the scenes to make things work, when the techs get great feedback from a client and you know you have played a part in making that happen, it is very rewarding.
What technology most excites you?
I am not particularly technical minded, however, I have 4 screens for my work computer and 2 screens for my home gaming computer. I love being able to scan from one screen to another when I am working on organising the technicians day, I am able to check a ticket on one screen while coordinating a resource for that ticket in another screen and booking the same ticket out in a technicians calendar on another of my screens. Which hands down beats having to tab through windows on one screen. At home I can play a game and chat with friends on one screen while keeping up to date with the news or playing music videos on the other screen. Sometimes when I am feeling really ambitious I have my laptop and Ipad open on my desk also.
What areas should business be focussing on when it comes to technology?
While there are many technological advancements to take advantage of, I believe that creating and storing company processes in an easily accessible place will help employees be more productive in the long term. Promapp is cloud based process management software for creating and storing business processes online. It's easy to use, and being a fully web based tool, process changes are performed and approved online, in the cloud. I also tend to make great use of StaffHub to schedule shifts, have employees change and update shifts and share updated information with the whole team. It also allows managers to approve shift changes and staff leave, easily and quickly.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love to read, play games on my computer and travel. I am an avid reader and can read up to 5 books a week. As new books can be expensive for someone who reads as much as I do, I have a group of friends who constantly swap books. I also have a the Kindle for Ipad app so quite happily spend time downloading books on my Ipad to read when I have spare time on the move. I also like to play games on my computer with a friend of mine in the USA. Last year my friend and I met in Anaheim in Los Angeles to go to a gaming conference. It was such an amazing experience and we had a blast while we were there. We are planning to go back again this year. However I intend to stay a bit longer and travel to other parts of the States while I am there.
If you could gain one super-human power, what would it be?
Another hard question. I would have to say Telekinesis. Being able to move objects without physically touching them would be amazing. Instead of having to rush to buy things during Christmas and on sale days I can just stand at the counter and have the items I want come to me. I am sure there are more altruistic applications also, these would probably be situational.
