Staff Biography - Claudia Limaco

In detail, what is your role at Think IT?

I am the Marketing and Events Coordinator. I am the first person to take on this first ever brand-new role at Think IT. I have various responsibilities in my role but the main one is taking control of anything and everything that is to do with our company's marketing. That results in executing and implementing marketing strategies, taking care of our social media platforms and working closely with our e-marketing. I will also take on the role of helping to coordinate and organise events that help our customers network with our team and to help their businesses become more efficient. These events will demonstrate how our team can help our customers achieve their business goals.

What is it that drives and encourages you within your work and personal life?

I am driven by making a difference within my workspace but also within my personal life. I encourage myself to make a difference with my work colleagues and with my clients. Making a difference and being able to help others is what drives me to grow in my work and personal life.

Who, or what, was the biggest influence in your career today?

One of my long-term jobs was being a Credit Solutions Officer for ASB Bank, even though that was not the path I wanted for myself, I believe I learned many of my most valuable skills from my role at ASB Bank. Being a successful credit solutions officer is not a breezy role. You need to have a strong backbone to deal with very difficult customers, who are under very stressful life circumstances. It taught me to thrive in a high temp and demanding environment. I was taught to negotiate and balance different tasks daily. Most of all it taught me the true value of wanting to help others who were in desperate need of help. I look back and I am grateful for the time I spent working at the bank because it taught me to be patient, understanding, and to always be well prepared. This role helped me with many other work and life lessons.

Whose biggest fan, are you?

This is a very difficult question to answer as there are many people that I respect and follow. To name a few; Martin Luther King, Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey, and many more. But the person I choose would have to be my father. I choose my father because 27 years ago he came to live in New Zealand with my mother and my 3-year-old brother at the time, all the way from Peru. They came to New Zealand knowing absolutely no one and knowing ZERO English. He worked day and night in whatever he could find to purely provide food for the three of them. You can imagine how hard it could have been proving for a family in a country where you can't even speak the language and having close to no money. He would use his strive, and hard-working attitude to impact the people he would meet. Along the way, he slowly made connections and landed himself as a painter. My father has always been very business savvy, so, after many years of learning the ins and outs of being a professional painter, he ended up starting from the bottom, to now owning his own painting and decoration business. He has shown me what it is to be a self-driven, hardworking and ambitious person, which makes him the person who I am the biggest fan of.

What accomplishment are you most proud of within your job role at Think IT?

I am proud that I landed this high demanding job role as being a Marketing & Events Coordinator, especially being the first one to create a Marketing team here at Think IT. In saying that, I am working on some new and exciting projects. These projects will not only impact and help our clients and their businesses, but they will also reduce the workload for my colleagues.

What technology most excites you?

Office 365 hands down. Before working at Think I.T. I had no idea about this product. I was only aware of individual and your standard Microsoft Office products. I really believe that Office 365 has changed many businesses to increase work productivity. I specifically like Microsoft Teams, as it allows you to communicate with anyone within your company and you can even talk in groups and share any documents you may be working on together. This is a product that I will not look back on, as I will forever be using Office 365.

What areas should business be focussing on when it comes to technology?

I believe businesses should be focussing on automation. This will allow every business to get the push they need to learn more about their customers and they will also be able to focus on their business strategies, which would help them long term.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Travel, keeping active and spending as much time possible with my family and friends. I find that life is too short, and traveling is a must. I love exploring different countries, cities, culture and especially the food that comes along with the traveling! I have traveled around Europe, South America, the United States and the Islands but I know that there is so much more I want to see of the world. I would love to have the opportunity to go over to Africa and volunteer for a couple of months but that's something I will achieve later in life. Due to losing one of my best friends last year in a car accident and losing so many of my family members to cancer, I try and spend as much time as I can with my loved ones and I appreciate the time I have with them now, as I said before, life is too short.

If you could gain one super-human power, what would it be?

This is an easy one, TELEPORTING. Given that I love to travel, teleporting would be ideal for me. If I feel like visiting a country, BAM I'm there. Imagine no longer having to deal with that horrific Auckland traffic we have going on, in a matter of seconds you can get to work by just teleporting and avoid the headache of being stuck in traffic. Life would be much easier!
