Staff Biography - Azriel D'Souza

In detail, what is your role at Think IT?

My role at Think IT is Demand Co-Coordinator. I have many responsibilities but some of the major ones are to help plan, execute and measure the sales & marketing strategies that will drive growth for our IT business along with my wonderful team. Another interesting part of my job is to help organize events that help our customers make their business more efficient & profitable. I am also working on improving our sales processes by leveraging the use of automation and intelligent CRM systems.

What is it that drives and encourages you within your work and personal life?

My primary motivation is to help. Luckily my role gives me the opportunity to directly impact our customer's lives and the lives of my colleagues by having more efficient processes that save time for both, so they can spend more time with their loved ones. My secondary motivation is living a good life. I have my personal goals that I would like to achieve, and this role gives me the opportunity to achieve them.

Who, or what, was the biggest influence in your career today?

I used to work for a pharmaceutical company called Sanofi as a sales rep. As a young sales rep, I was always very impatient and unprepared for my day job. My customers were doctors that were always busy managing patients in the I.C.U and there were long waiting hours just to briefly meet them and talk about my products. Sometimes when my manager Mr. Dinesh Nair used to join me on calls, I used to crib about the long wait hours just to meet the customer for a moment and how frustrating it was. He always used to say, "ENJOY THE JOURNEY". It took me a while to understand that depth of those 3 words, but today when I look back I am grateful because that role taught me to be patient, to always be prepared, that time is precious so use it well and so many more life lessons which I never realized while I was on the 'Journey' but today it has been one of the most influencing factors that have shaped my personal and professional life.

Whose biggest fan, are you?

My father. There are many people I admire and respect but then to be a fan is too crazy about!  He came from a poor and uneducated family in rural India. In his younger years, he had to study in a vernacular medium (Regional Indian language called Kannada). Today he works for a Finland based company managing the entire insurance portfolio for the Indian subcontinent and working on CSR projects through his company, that build medical centres for rural Indian villagers. Now you can imagine the journey and the passion to achieve this feat coming from a humble background. I am a fan of him because he used his job to impact the lives of people he met along his 'Journey' at work and made a lasting difference. That said, I also love what Elon Musk is doing now. It's exciting, challenging and is shaping our future here on earth.

What accomplishment are you most proud of within your job role at Think IT?

I am proud that I completed my first week without being a nuisance to anyone in office (Joking). There are a lot of exciting projects I am working on now and my focus is to execute them asap, so it impacts our clients and helps their business achieve more.

What technology most excites you?

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. I am excited about how these technologies are going to impact our lives at work and at home. We are currently using the help of these technologies at work to provide 'Tailored' services to our clients that meet their specific needs.

What areas should business be focussing on when it comes to technology?

Automation! I think all the mundane tasks should be automated for 2 reasons. One because it should be unless you like doing the same stuff over and over and repeatedly again. See, that was boring already. Secondly because then you can do stuff that the machine cannot and add some real value to your business.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like exploring unfamiliar places and taking photos of people, I meet along the journey. I love walking trails that have views of the ocean or interesting landscapes. I play a couple of sports and my latest fad is beach tennis. If you have never heard of it, I don't blame you. It's relatively new and I just happen to stumble upon it.

If you could gain one super-human power, what would it be?

I would like to have an Apparition as a super-human power. It would be cool to disappear from one place and magically appear in another. Hmm... that makes me think, what would I do if I had this superpower for real!
